Neutral Program

Launched in 2011, it aims at reducing the excessive increase of greenhouse

effect gases (CO

) by means of its main tool – the

CO

2

e Calculator – enabling each System Unimed to produce its Greenhouse

Effect Gases Issuances Inventory (Iegee), allowing a low-carbon management

in cooperative operations.

[G4-DMA

]

In 2015, 130 Unimeds, including Unimed do Brasil, used the CO

2

e Calculator

to issue their inventories referring to 2014, in comparison with the 9 Uni-

meds in 2012 when the tool was created and made available. A requirement

for gold- or diamond-certified Unimeds in the Unimed Sustainability Seal

in 2014 and intend to seek certification again in 2016, Unimeds received an

e-mail with the feedback of this checking process in 2015, informing wheth-

er the inventory referring to 2014 was in conformity with the guidelines

defined by Unimed do Brasil and based on the

GHG Protocol

. Besides the

feedback and the possibility of correcting the inventories, Unimeds received

some directions for actions aiming at reducing emissions, as well sugges-

tions for seedling planting, areas adoption or other means of voluntary off-

set. As from 2016, it will be possible to increase the cooperatives representa-

tivity informing their greenhouse effect gases emissions, as this information

will be requested in the Unimed Social Balance.
