The Unimed Social Balance indicated that the external public investment by 231 cooperatives and auxiliary companies, that is, 65.81% of Unimeds composing the Unimed System on De-
cember 31, 2014 was R$ 68,913,675.34. The amount is R$ 2 million higher than the investment in 2013, when the total invested by the same Unimeds was R$ 66,808,971.02.
Such investments refer to issues mainly linked to health, with 42.94% of the total value invested in 2014; to sports, with 16.62%, and to culture and leisure, with 13.36%. Among
those benefitted there are over nine million person and 16,619 entities in 2014 alone. Unimed do Brasil has worked for these actions, which are currently decentralized in
several topics, converge to common topics all over the Unimed System. However, this approach becomes a challenge, as the Unimed System cooperatives are autonomous to
develop their actions at their communities of insertion, focusing on local characteristics and demands.
