Institutional support to the Unimed System

Sustainability National Committee

The sustainability area of Unimed do Brasil aims at supporting the Unimed System cooperatives and auxiliary companies in the

implementation of the National Sustainability Policy, developing programs and actions aligned to the main market trends and to its

business. Along 2014, besides projects, actions and consultancies, the area guided Unimeds in various technical subjects, totaling

3,202 email or telephone assistances. The highlight was on the Unimed do Brasil adherence to the Sustainable Leadership Platform,

an initiative from Ideia Sustentável, an institution which may objective is to inspire and educate new leaders for the transition to

more sustainable business models, haring success stories of renowned leaders in virtual and online environments and by training.

Another importance action refers to the partnership with that same companies to carry out the study

, within NEXT – Sustainability Trends Observatory, a tool throughwhich thematic studies directed towards sustainability

knowledge management are developed. This is another starting point for the sustainability discussion within the health segment,

under the perspective of direct health impacts on society, on the business, and the undue management reflex on the environment.

Organized in 2011, the Committee’s purpose is to discuss and propose tools and indicators to guide Unimeds towards a more sus-

tainable management of its business. In 2014 eight meetings were held, three of which with specific agendas for the Committee

discussion, for four the Social Balance RevisionWork Group, and one for the Code of Conduct RevisionWork Group, groups inserted

in the context of the National Sustainability Committee.
